The men’s golf team completed the 2014 MAAC Golf Championships this afternoon in Orlando, Fla., finishing in sixth placed, shooting an overall 955 with round scores of 320, 315 and 315. Scott Kim led the Saints with a 230 and finished fifth overall.
"We simply did not play all eighteen holes," said Coach Tom Wronowski. "We had a great opportunity on day two and let it slip away. I think our young team learned a lot this year and are looking forward to next year."
Kim (+14) continued to keep pace with the Tournament leaders all weekend with individual round scores of 74, 83 and 73 for a overall total of 230. Kim’s final round score of 73 was good enough for the second best round amongst all Tournament players.
Michael Shine (+21) rebounded from an opening round 85 to finish tied for 15th with second and third round scores of 77 and 75, respectively. Shine finished seven-strokes behind Kim for the team lead.
Brendan Quintana (+25) finished tied for 21st after shooting a final round 82. Quintana started the Championships strong with an opening round 78 and finished with a 241 total. Quintana finished four-strokes behind Shine.
Lou Walsh and Riley McGraw rounds out the scoring for the men. Walsh finished 39th, shooting +39 in the three rounds. Walsh’s best score was a 79 in the second round. McGraw finished +41 after his three rounds of 84, 86 and 87 for a 257 total.
The men’s season comes to an end with the conclusion of the 2014 MAAC Championships. The men lose seniors Riley McGraw and Mickey Sutton while returning this weekend’s top finishers in Scott Kim and Michael Shine.
