The 2014 MAAC Golf Championships will come to a close tomorrow afternoon. The women are currently in first place with a commanding 31-stroke lead over Fairfield University. The Siena Men are currently seventh.

Kylie Strijek finished the second round with a six-stroke lead over Fairfield’s Emma Ritzmann with a 153 after two rounds. Victoria Nguyen and Katie Nelson are tied for fourth overall with a 164. Freshman Kristen Bromley finished tied for seventh and one stroke behind Nelson and Nguyen. Valerie Wijaya rounds out the scoring for the women. Wijaya shot an 81 in the second round to finish with a 173.

The men enter the final round in seventh place.  Scott Kim leads the way for the Saints and is tied for 13th place after shooting a 74 and 83 in the first two rounds respectively. Brendan Quintana is tied for 17th with a total score of 159, two-strokes behind Kim. Lou Walsh, Michael Shine and Riley McGraw round out the scoring for the men. Walsh is tied for 23rd with a 161. Shine rebounded nicely in the second round, shooting a 77 and McGraw enters the final day with a 170.


 

 

Golfstat.com will have live scoring available for all three days of the MAAC championships and updates every third hole.

The MAAC championships conclude on Sunday afternoon and will be highlighted on ESPN3 as the ninth and eighteenth hole will broadcast live, starting at 10:00 a.m.

The winning team will receive the important automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division I Golf Championships.
