Siena men's golf stayed in seventh place Monday at the Lafayette Invitational, one day after being part of an extremely tight leaderboard in round one. Junior Jess Esposito led the Saints with a second-round charge, shooting a 72 that propelled him to a tie for ninth.
Esposito improved his round one total by seven shots, and finished seven back of individual medalist Carter Rufe of Lafayette, who won top honors in a playoff with Saint Francis (Pa.)'s Jeremy Foran. Next best for the Saints was freshman Louis Walsh, who slipped to a tie for 23rd after finishing Sunday's first round in the top 10.
As a team, the Saints improved by a shot on Monday, from 310 to 309. The Green and Golf finished 19 shots behind team champions Hofstra.
Siena returns to the course for their final MAAC Tournament tune-up on Saturday at the Navy Invitational.
