Michael Shine and Lou Walsh are leading the way for the men’s golf team after the first round at the New England D-1 Championships at the Mohegan Sun Country Club in Baltic, Conn. The team is currently eighth with a score of 318.

Shine leads the team and is tied for 24th overall after the first round. Shine shot a 77 and teammate Walsh trails Shine by two strokes after shooting a 79.

Brendan Quintana and Scott Kim finished inside the top-40 overall. Quintana shot an 80, good for 34th and Kim shot an 82 for T-39th place.

Michael Sutton rounds out the scoring for the Saints. Sutton shot an opening round 87.

Hartford leads the team standings with a total score of 287 and Scared Heart’s Pete Ballo leads the individual scoring after shooting a 65.

The second round continues tomorrow morning as the Saints look to improve on their first round scores.
