Siena men's golf emerged from a rough scoring day in seventh place at the La Salle Invitational Monday in Philadelphia, Pa. On a day where just five of the tournament's 64 competitors broke 80, Siena improved their position and finished just four shots out of sixth.
Senior Justin Deitz led the Green and Gold with a second-round 79, improving his first-round total by two shots on a day where most participants regressed. He ultimately tied for ninth place, 12 shots behind individual medalist Brandon Shin of Hofstra.
Classmate Nick Miller put forth his second straight solid round, signing for an 85 and finishing the day where he started it, in a tie for 11th. As a team, the Saints' total of 333 in the second round was sixth of 12 teams, and put them 37 shots behind Fordham University, who took the team title with a two-day total of 621.
The Saints return to the course on April 15, when they tee off at the Lafayette Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
