The men’s golf team finished their first tournament of the spring season, the Lonnie Barton Invitational in Daytona, Fla. Michael Shine was the Saints top finisher (T12) with a +11 and the team improved one spot from day one to finish eight (655).
Three Saints improved on their first round totals, including Shine, who shot a second round 77. Shine recorded 24 pars in the two rounds. Brendan Quintana improved on his score by seven strokes, also shooting a final round 77. Quintana finished the Invitational tied for 24th with a 161. Scott Kim shot an 83, improving his score by seven strokes to finish just outside the top-50 with a final round 83.
Lou Walsh and Michael Sutton round out the Saints lineup with Walsh shooting a final round 86 and Sutton shooting an 89.
Robert Morris (RMU) and Santiago Mejia (RMU) led after round one and did relinquish the lead after round two. Mejia finished even through the two-round Tournament to win the Individual Medalist to help his team to an overall first place finish with a +18.
Men’s golf is back in action on March 30 – April 1 for the Whiting Turner Towson Invitational in Prospect Bay, Md.
