Here's Ten Things to Know About Tonight's Game
.) Siena continues its stretch where they play five of seven games on the road to close out December. The Saints have dropped five straight road games dating back to last season (had won previous four).
.) Siena concludes a grueling stretch tonight where they play perennial national power Louisville and America East contenders UAlbany and Vermont in the span of just six days. Those three teams combined to post a 75-29 (.721) overall record last season and have a collective 22-7 (.759) record this year.
.) Siena is playing its eighth 2016-17 20-win opponent over its first 10 games to open the season. The nine teams the Saints have faced so far this year have posted a collective record of 58-29 (.667) this season. Eight of Siena's first nine opponents currently hold winning records.
.) The Saints have used five different starting lineups over the team's first nine games. Nine players have made starts, although no player has started every game. However, Siena has used the same starting lineup each of the past three games.
.) Nine different Saints have scored in double figures at least once through the team's first nine games this year.
.) Freshman guard Roman Penn has broken out over the past six games, averaging 11.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. He scored a season-high 15 points Saturday vs. UAlbany.
.) Sophomore guard Ahsante Shivers is averaging 13.0 points over the past seven games, after totaling just nine points over his first two contests
.) Siena is an impressive 106-53 (.667) vs. the nine programs which currently comprise the America East. However, the Saints have lost 10 of their last 11 games vs. America East foes, all of which have come vs. UAlbany and Vermont.
.) Siena leads the all-time series with Vermont 22-12. However, the Catamounts have defeated the Saints in each of the previous seven seasons. UVM won last year's meeting 76-60 in Albany behind a 17-point performance from reserve Darren Payen.
.) Vermont posted a 29-6 overall record last season and won both the America East Regular Season and Tournament Championships while achieving an unblemished 16-0 league mark. The Catamounts are the unanimous preseason favorites to repeat as they return reigning America East Player of the Year Trae Bell-Haynes and Rookie of the Year, Anthony Lamb. Tonight marks just UVM's second home game, and the Catamounts are looking to snap a three-game losing streak.
