Here's Ten Things to Know About Tonight's Game
.) Siena is in search of its first 2-0 start in MAAC play since beginning 14-0 during the 2009-10 season. The Saints have split their December MAAC opening weekend each of the previous three years.
.) Siena is 11-16 in MAAC road openers. The Saints are opening conference play on the road at Rider for the third time in the past seven years.
.) Siena was projected to finish second of 11 teams according to the MAAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, while Rider was predicted to place seventh
.) Head coach Jimmy Patsos recorded his 200th career victory Saturday against Fairfield. Patsos posted 145 wins at former MAAC foe Loyola (2004-13), and has accumulated 55 so far in three-plus seasons at Siena.
.) Sophomore guard Nico Clareth exploded for a career-high 33 points off the bench in Saturday’s win. It marked the third most points scored by a Division I reserve this season, and tied Rob Poole (2014) for the most points scored by a Saint since Ryan Rossiter tallied 34 points vs. Marist on Feb. 27, 2011.
.) Siena returns to the road tonight. The Saints are scheduled to play seven of their first 10 games on the road this season.
.) Siena has lost six straight road games dating back to last season, although all six losses have come against teams which won 19 or more games, combined to average 24.7 victories, and advanced to national postseason tournaments last season.
.) Siena leads the all-time series with Rider, 30-15. The Saints have won five of six against the Broncs under Patsos.
.) Siena swept last year's regular season series with Rider, posting a 63-52 win in Albany (Jan. 21) and an 84-64 victory in Lawrenceville (Feb. 19).
.) In the most recent meeting last year at Rider, Siena shot 11-21 from three and held a 44-28 advantage in rebounding in leading by double digits for the final 21 minutes. Brett Bisping scored 24 points - including the 1,000th of his career - and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds.
