LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Siena Basketball will hold its only exhibition prior to the start of the 2016-17 season when the Saints host Division II Daemen College on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at the new-look Alumni Recreation Center on campus. Tickets are on-sale now and can be purchased by clicking the link at the top of the page.
The exhibition contest will provide fans with their first look at the 2016-17 Saints in game action. Tickets can be purchased online up to 24 hours in advance of the game, and then will be available at the door the night of the game while supplies last. Capacity for the exhibition game in the new-look ARC is capped at 2,084.
Tickets for chairback seats behind the team benches are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. General admission seats in the new look bleachers opposite the team benches and behind the basket on the entrance side are $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
Expectations are high surrounding a Siena Basketball program which returns both 82% of its scoring and rebounding from last year's squad which achieved the program's most victories in six seasons with 21 wins and earned a postseason berth to the College Basketball Invitational. The Saints welcome back their top-five scorers, highlighted by 2015-16 unanimous First Team All-MAAC selection Brett Bisping, MAAC Defensive Player of the Year Javion Ogunyemi, and MAAC Sixth Player of the Year Nico Clareth.
The Saints also welcome five newcomers to team, and fans will get their first glimpse at Siena's Class of 2020 which features freshmen Sammy Friday, Thomas Huerter, Jr., Kahlil Richard and Ahsante Shivers.
Located in Amherst, New York, Daemen posted a 19-10 overall record last season and finished second in the East Coast Conference with a 14-6 league mark while advancing to their tournament title game. The Wildcats graduated the ECC's leading scoring in Torrence Dyck who averaged 21.9 points per game last season, but return a strong nucleus led by 2015-16 Second Team All-ECC selection Arif Mehmetaj who averaged 15.2 points and 6.5 rebounds a year ago.
Since joining the Division II ranks in 2011, Daemen has posted the most victories of any Division II school in New York State with 108 wins, which is also the second most in the east region trailing only Philadelphia University (110). The Wildcats are led by former longtime MAAC coach Mike MacDonald, who headed Canisius from 1997-06.
