LOUDONVILLE, NY -- Siena Basketball could receive up to two nationally televised regular season conference games on ESPNU this season according to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's and women's basketball television schedule released Monday. The MAAC has been awarded a total of eight ESPNU men's and women's basketball telecasts throughout the regular season and conference championships as part of the first-year of a new eight-year agreement between the league and ESPN.
The Saints' potential ESPNU games would be on Jan. 5 vs. Niagara and on Feb. 2 vs. Manhattan. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. tip-offs at the Times Union Center. ESPNU is available in HD to Spectrum subscribers in the Capital Region on Channel 370, as well as through the WatchESPN app.
The MAAC has five Fridays during the conference regular season schedule -- Jan. 5, Jan. 19, Jan. 26, Feb. 2, and Feb. 23 -- in which one league contest on each date will be flexed onto ESPNU as the "MAAC Wildcard Game." The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any MAAC game scheduled on that date to air on ESPNU. ESPN will announce approximately 21 days prior to each date which matchup has been selected.
ESPN will also broadcast the final three rounds of the 2018 MAAC Men's Basketball Championships at the Times Union Center. All four quarterfinal games and the first semifinal will air on ESPN3, with the second semifinal to be televised on ESPNU. The women's championship game on Monday, Mar. 5 will be shown on ESPNU at 2:30 p.m., with the men's title game to follow at 7 p.m. on either ESPN or ESPN2. The network for the men's championship game will be announced 7-10 days in advance.
