LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference released its 2013-14 men's basketball schedule Thursday afternoon, completing Siena's 31-game slate. Seven of Siena's 10 home MAAC games will take place on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays, and two league contests will be played on Thursdays.
The Saints open MAAC play in Western New York, taking on Niagara (Dec. 6) and Canisius (Dec. 8). The three-game MAAC-opening road trip concludes at newcomer Monmouth for the first game of 2014 on Thursday, January 2.
Siena then returns home for three MAAC games, taking on Rider Saturday, January 4, rival Marist Friday, January 10 and defending champion Iona Sunday, January 12.
The remainder of the conference schedule is balanced with no more than two consecutive home or away games.
Quinnipiac makes its first trip to Times Union Center as a MAAC member on Saturday, February 1 and the season concludes with a Senior Day game against Monmouth Sunday, March 2.
Head coach Jimmy Patsos expects Siena's non-conference schedule to be one of the most challenging in the country. The season opens Friday, November 8 against UAlbany - the first of three games against teams that advanced to the postseason in 2013.
