Hasbrouck Resigns with Heat
July 28, 2010
Kenny Hasbrouck '09 has resigned with the Miami Heat. The Heat made the official announcement on its website shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday. A phone call to the former Siena star early Wednesday evening was not immediately returned. Terms of the deal were not disclosed per team policy. Hasbrouck led the Heat's 2010 summer league with 13.6 points in 28.6 minutes per game. He signed two separate 10-day deals with the Heat last March before resigning for the remainder of the season in early April. He did not appear in any games and his future with the franchise was uncertain as roster spots dwindled the past few weeks. Miami figures to be one of the most watched team's in league history this season following the off-season free agent signings of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and franchise player Dwayne Wade. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Hasbrouck helped Siena win first-round games in the 2008 and 2009 NCAA tournaments. He would be the first former Siena player to appear in the NBA. He was MAAC Rookie of the Year as a freshman, MAAC Second Team as a sophomore, MAAC First Team and MAAC Tournament MVP as a junior and MAAC Player of the Year and MAAC Tournament MVP as a senior. His 1,917 career points stand fourth on the school's all-time list. Hasbrouck was also selected an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American this season after averaging 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. We caught up with Hasbrouck following his summer league performance and filed This Report.
