On a spring afternoon, new Siena men's basketball coach Jimmy Patsos walked into Maestro's, the bistro located in the former Rip Van Dam Hotel, the grand old building that predates the Civil War.
Patsos, who has a degree in history, has become a fan of Maestro's since his hiring in April to revive a once-successful Siena program that sank to an 8-24 record last season.
The three-bedroom condominium that he and his wife, Michele, are renting is less than a five-minute walk from the Broadway restaurant.
Maestro's dining room is on the left. Patsos, wearing a navy blazer over a green Siena tennis shirt, hung a quick right instead.
