LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena Basketball senior Lavon Long has accepted an invitation to play in the Fourth Annual Gotham Hoops Invitational which will be held on Saturday, Apr. 22 at 3 p.m. at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, New York. The tournament-style competition features 36 of the top college basketball seniors in the nation, and serves as a showcase to international scouts.
Long recently wrapped up one of the most versatile careers in Siena Basketball history, and joins Ryan Oliver ’16 as Saints who have participated in this event. The Baltimore, Maryland native departs joining Marcus Faison ’00 as the only two Siena players ever to eclipse 1,300 points, 600 rebounds and 250 assists.
Long currently ranks 14th in program history in rebounds (692), 17th in assists (281) and 18th in scoring (1,379). He appeared in 129 games (119 starts) donning the Green and Gold, and recorded 74 double-digit scoring efforts and 10 double-doubles.
This season, Long played an integral role in helping guide the Saints to the program’s first MAAC Championship Game appearance in seven years. In 31 games (30 starts), he averaged 12.6 points, and ranked second on the team in rebounding (6.3 – 10th MAAC), assists (2.6), blocks (24), and field goal percentage (.522 – 6th MAAC).
