The 2016-17 KeyBank Siena Basketball Celebration was held Wednesday night at the Hilton Albany. Several hundred fans, family members, supporters and sponsors joined the Siena men's and women's basketball teams for the annual event which celebrated the squads' 2016-17 seasons.
Siena College President Br. F. Edward Coughlin, O.F.M., Ph.D. offered opening remarks, and Fr. Mark G. Reamer, O.F.M., Guardian of the St. Bernardine of Siena Friary, delivered the invocation. Additionally, Peter Cosgrove, the Vice President and Regional Sales Executive of the event sponsor, KeyBank, addressed the audience.
The evening began with Siena College Vice President and Director of Athletics John D'Argenio addressing the crowd and presenting the Howard Tucker Award to the presenting sponsor of Siena Basketball, Trustco Bank, for their contributions made towards the betterment of the program.
The evening concluded with the presentation of awards recognizing superlative performances from both teams' student athletes. Award recipients were as follows:

The Doc Marcelle MVP award was the second of Wright's illustrious career, as he was also bestowed the honor following his sophomore season. A Second Team All-MAAC and MAAC All-Tournament Team selection, Wright was a two-time MAAC Player of the Week. He ranked third in the MAAC in assists (5.0), and sixth in scoring (16.8). Wright graduates ranking third all-time in Siena Basketball history with 614 assists, fifth in steals with 199, and 10th in scoring with 1,546 career points.
Donohue captured multiple deserving honors on the women's side to cap a stellar, four-year career in which she started all 128 games. She led the MAAC with a 58.5% field goal percentage this season, and ranked seventh in blocks with 26 while also averaging 12.5 points and 5.6 rebounds. Donohue graduates ranking 14th all-time in program history in scoring (1,223) and 16th in rebounds (662).
Both teams finished their respective 2016-17 seasons strong. The men were victorious in 13 of their final 19 games while navigating the 82nd toughest schedule in the nation, and advanced to the MAAC Championship Game for the first time in seven years. Meanwhile the women won 12 of their final 18 games overall, and their 13 MAAC victories were tied for the program's most in 14 years.
