LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena Basketball red-shirt sophomore forward Willem Brandwijk will transfer following the conclusion of the spring semester. The native of Voorburg, The Netherlands will continue to be a part of team activities until his departure from the College.

“We love Willem, he’s a great guy, and we thank him for the contributions that he made to the program,” said head coach Jimmy Patsos. “Ultimately, he wanted an opportunity to play more to build his resume and better position himself for a chance to play professionally once he graduates.”

Brandwijk spent three seasons with the Saints, appearing in a total of 46 games (12 starts) in 2014-15 and this past winter, with a red-shirt year sandwiched in between. The 6’8”, 229-pound forward averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 9.7 minutes of action for his Siena career, shooting 42.6% from the field and 42.9% (9-21) from three-point range. Brandwijk saw action in 15 games this season, scoring eight points while adding six rebounds in 50 total minutes.

“I made this decision so that I could go somewhere where I had the opportunity to play more,” explained Brandwijk. “I really love Siena College and the team, and I wish them nothing but the best.”

Brandwijk is currently in good academic standing at Siena College.
