The Associated Press is reporting that the Miami Heat have completed the signing of guard Kenny Hasbrouck, who will be on the roster for Tuesday night's game against San Antonio. Hasbrouck graduated last May as one of the most influential and accomplished players in program history.
Hasbrouck was with the Heat last summer and was in line for an invitation to training camp until breaking a rib. He played 10 games for Rio Grande Valley of the NBA Development League, averaging 16.9 points.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Hasbrouck helped Siena win first-round games in the 2008 and 2009 NCAA tournaments. He would be the first former Siena player to appear in the NBA.
He was MAAC Rookie of the Year as a freshman, MAAC Second Team as a sophomore, MAAC First Team and MAAC Tournament MVP as a junior and MAAC Player of the Year and MAAC Tournament MVP as a senior. His 1,917 career points stand fourth on the school's all-time list. Hasbrouck was also selected an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American this season after averaging 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
Hasbrouck became just the second player to have his Siena jersey retired. That announcement was made at last year's annual men's basketball banquet.
