Penn to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Basketball freshman guard Roman Penn is set to undergo season-ending surgery on his injured left heel, and is expected to be sidelined for the next 3-6 months. The Calumet City, Illinois native was diagnosed with a stress injury in his left heel bone which he suffered Feb. 1, and further test results confirmed the need for surgery which will be performed by Dr. John DiPreta and Dr. Rick Alfred of the Bone & Joint Center.

Penn’s strong 2017-18 rookie season officially comes to a close with the freshman floor general currently ranking fourth in the MAAC in free throw percentage (.833), and eighth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.53). Named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Dec. 18, Penn also led all active Siena players in scoring (9.7), assists (3.0), steals (1.3), and offensive rebounds (38) at the time of his injury.
