The Siena men's basketball team will embark on a 14-day tour of Northern Italy on August 16. Tour stops include Lake Como, Venice, San Marino, Florence, Siena and Rome.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of our guys," head coach Fran McCaffery said. "We are excited about the trip and hope many of our fans will be able to join us. In addition to experiencing all that Italy has to offer, we will grow closer as a team and learn more about one another. With so many returning players, the timing seemed perfect."
The Saints board a direct flight from New York to Milan on August 16, and then head to nearby Lake Como where they will spend two days. On August 19, the party will take the four-hour journey to Venice in the heart of Italy, where it will spend the next two days. After a one-day stop in San Marino for a walking tour and friendly game with a local team, the group heads to picturesque Florence for two days. A logical stop at the Tuscan hill town of Siena precedes the tour's final destination: a three-day stop in Italy's capital city of Rome where a return flight to New York is scheduled on August 29.
The team is scheduled to play five games during its visit.
