Ryan Rossiter tied a career-high with 22 points on 8-9 shooting and Siena never trailed in a 90-56 blowout of Delaware Tuesday night before 7,437 fans at Times Union Center. At halftime last year's senior co-captains Josh Duell and Kenny Hasbrouck were on hand as the Saints unfurled their 2008-09 MAAC Championship banner.
Siena (3-1) scored 14 of the first 16 points and led by double-figures for the final 28 minutes and 53 seconds. The lead reached 37 with 3:42 remaining when reserve Kyle Downey scored the last two of his 10 points on a driving layup.
The Saints won their 23rd straight home game and won for the 27th straight time when holding their opponents to fewer than 70 points. They dominated the game in every facet, including a decisive 47-28 rebounding advantage.
Rossiter's career night paced five Saints in double figures. Owen Wignot came off the bench to tally a career-high 16 points, Alex Franklin had 15 and Edwin Ubiles scored 10.
Siena went deep into its bench and walk-ons Conner Fenlon and Just-in'love Smith each scored the first points of their career. Smith finished with four points, accounting for the final margin when he converted a layup with .8 seconds remaining.
Jawan Carter led overmatched Delaware (1-3) with 13 points. D.J. Boney had 12 points off the bench.
The game was the second in the Phily Hoop Group Classic for both teams. Siena heads to the Palestra this weekend where they will take on St. John's Friday at 5:30 and Brown Saturday at 4:15.
