Siena shot 59% from the field, including 69% in the second half in a convincing 88-56 exhibition win over New Jersey City University Saturday night in Loudonville. Juniors Rob Poole and Evan Hymes each had 16 points to lead the Saints.
Freshman point guard Marquis Wright finished with eight points, eight assists and just one turnover. He played the first 31 minutes of the game before departing with things while in hand.
Wright's classmates Javion Ogunyemi and Lavon Long combined for 16 points and 11 rebounds, and the pair didn't miss a shot (6-for-6) all night. Michael Wolfe also impressed in his debut, ending with eight points in 13 minutes, including a highlight-reel dunk on an alley-oop that put the Saints up 37 with 1:50 to play.
Walik Albright posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Gothic Knights.
Siena jumped out to a 14-3 lead, but NJCU rallied to cut the lead to 25-20 with 4:36 to play in the half. The Saints pushed the lead to 40-30 at the break, and scored the first 10 points after intermission to take command.
