Dewitt Maxwell led four Fairfield players in double figures with 18 points in a 77-66 road conference win over Siena in Albany Wednesday night. Jack McClinton scored a career-high 23 points in defeat for the Saints.
The Stags (7-7/4-1 MAAC) out-scored Siena (3-11/1-3 MAAC) 44-35 after taking a 33-31 lead into the lockerroom. Deng Gai sparked Fairfield with six blocks (four in the second half). Gai added 14 points.
Fairfield built a 54-39 lead in the second half, before Siena responded with a 14-3 run to close within 57-53.
Michael Haddix scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds in his return to the lineup for Siena. Haddix had missed the previous five games with a broken leg. Mike Beers joined Haddix and McClinton in double figures with 11 points for the Saints. David Ryan had a career-high 13 rebounds in the loss.
Terrence Todd scored 16 points and Michael Bell had 12 for the Stags.
After Mike Beers gave Siena its first lead of the game, 20-19, with a three-pointer at the 8:39 mark of the first half, Fairfield used a 10-2 run to gain a 29-22 advantage. Siena answered with an 11-1, capped off with another Beers three to take its final lead of the game, 31-30, with 1:07 left in the half.
Siena returns home Saturday for its final non-conference game of the season at 1 p.m. against Pennsylvania.
