Lannan Recalled, Giansanti Promoted to Peoria
Aug. 3, 2010
Both of Siena's professional baseball alumni received recent promotions. John Lannan `05 was recalled by the Washington Nationals over the weekend and Anthony Giansanti '10 was promoted by the Chicago Cubs organization to the Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League Tuesday. In Lannan's return to the mound Sunday, the 25-year-old southpaw earned a no decision after tossing five effective innings as the Nationals fell 6-4 in 11 innings to Philadelphia. He allowed two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk. It marked his first major league start since June 20. He was the Nats' opening day starter the last two seasons. Lannan was demoted after compiling a 2-5 mark with a 5.76 ERA in 14 starts earlier this season. In seven starts with Double A Harrisburg, he went 1-4 with a 4.20 ERA.
