Goossens graduates ranking third all-time in program history in starts (43), fourth in innings pitched (280.2) and seventh in appearances (63), and was a key cog in the Saints’ weekend rotation as a sophomore during the program’s 2014 MAAC Championship run and ensuing trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Goossens equally excelled in the classroom where he was a four-time MAAC Academic Honor Roll selection and was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team in each year of eligibility. He accrued a perfect 4.0 GPA during his final Spring 2016 semester, and was heralded at Siena College’s 2015-16 All-Sports Celebration with an Academic Honor award which is bestowed upon seniors who maintain a cumulative grade point average between 3.2-3.69. Goossens finished with a 3.61 cumulative GPA and received his degree in accounting.

Alyssa Lancaster

Named a Second Team All-MAAC selection following both her freshman and sophomore seasons, she played an integral role throughout her time with the program as a four-year starter for the winningest class in program history which registered 96 victories. Lancaster graduated ranking tied for fifth all-time in program history in doubles (37), and sixth in both hits (163) and RBI (93).

In the classroom, Lancaster was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team this spring. She posted a final cumulative GPA of 3.41 and, like Goossens, was the recipient of an Academic Honor Award at the All-Sports Celebration. Lancaster graduated from Siena College in May with her degree in Biology.

The Leo Dufort Student Athlete of the Month Award is presented nine times annually (September-May) throughout the academic year. The award recognizes exemplary achievements in both academics and athletics. The late Leo Dufort received a B.S. in marketing and management from Siena in August of 1977. His entire academic career was completed on a part-time basis beginning in the spring of 1961, as a married adult while at the same time raising five children. He passed away suddenly of a heart attack while cross country skiing in February of 1993. His wife Jeanine wanted to do something to immortalize his memory. The original plaque was donated to athletics and the department began the Leo Dufort Student Athlete of the Month Award to help carry out his legacy. Dufort graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1954, was a Navy Veteran (USS Bennington) who worked for JL Hammett Co. at the time of his death.
