LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -Siena College freshman Ken Grant (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was selected as an honorable mention pitcher on Collegiate Baseball's Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team earlier this week. Grant was 5-4 for the Saints in 2002 and was second on the squad with 45 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched.
The 6-7, 200-pound right hander spent most of the season in Siena's conference pitching rotation. Grant appeared in 14 games this past season starting eight. He compiled a 6.05 earned run average and was second on the team with five victories.
"This award is a great honor for Ken," Head Coach Tony Rossi said. "He stepped in and played a big role for us all season, taking on responsibility usually given to established upper classmen."
Grant follows in the footsteps of sophomore teammate Kevin Roberts (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame), who was named to the team last season after setting a school record with 69 base hits.
