Baseball Rallies for Huge Road Win at Canisius
Justin Esquerra's bases-clearing double in the seventh highlighted a four-run frame that carried Siena past Canisius 6-3 in a rematch of last year's MAAC Championship game Sunday in Buffalo. The Saints rallied to take the series from the Griffs after dropping Saturday's opener, and secured their claim on first place in the early conference standings.

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Siena baseball forced the decisive game two after defeating No.1 Canisius 6-5 earlier this afternoon at FirstEnergy Park. The Saints used a five run eighth inning to end the nation's longest winning streak (18). Game two will begin at 3:40 p.m. on MAAC.TV. The 2014 matchup is a rematch of last season's MAAC Championship when Canisius defeated Siena 12-11 on a walk-off bases loaded hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the ninth. Siena took two of three from the Griffs in Buffalo April 12-13 after dropping the series opener.

The Saints had to fight their way out of the loser's bracket and they did so by defeating No. 5 Monmouth 6-5 with a walk-off single by Andres Ortiz to score John Rooney and No. 3 Fairfield 4-3 behind Citro's go-ahead and winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

This year's Saints are led by the core of four seniors in Mike Allen, Vincent Citro, Andres Ortiz and John Rooney.

Citro leads the team with a .727 BA (8-for-11) and has scores seven times in the three MAAC Championship games this weekend. Andres Ortiz is 6-for-13 for a .462 BA and drove in 2 RBIs. John Rooney is batting .417 this weekend with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored, including the game-winning run against Monmouth on Saturday. Mike Allen rounds out the four seniors, batting .308 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs.
