2002 Senior Day

May 17, 2002

Recap |  Box Score

Fans it is with great appreciation and sadness today that we must say farewell to the seven members of the Siena College baseball class of 2002. As a group, this class has amassed over 100 victories and has been triumphant in two thirds of its conference games. Entering this season, they already had claimed two MAAC regular-season titles and one Tournament Championship as freshmen in 1999. This season, they have each stepped up their games and as a result have left their legacy in the Siena record books and again have the Saints set for a return trip to next week's conference championships where they will attempt a return to the NCAA Tournament. Recently, Head Coach Tony Rossi noted that this may be the most productive senior class he has coached in his 33 years with the program. At this time, we would like to recognize each member individually.

2002 Senior Day
A four year member of the Saints, our next honoree has been a clutch competitor throughout his four years with the program. He has appeared in nearly 100 games with the Green and Gold collecting 51 hits and 29 RBI. Last year he was the team’s everyday DH and this season he has started 15 times and been called upon as a pinch hitter with the game on the line in several other contests. A tireless worker who has done whatever it takes to help the program succeed during his stay, he graduates with a degree in history on Sunday…#5 Steve Castellani.
