Siena junior centerfielder Mike Fish was named MAAC Player of the Week Monday after a monster weekend in the Saints' MAAC sweep of Niagara.
Fish (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) batted .667 (8-for-12) with two home runs, seven RBI, four runs scored and a 1.167 slugging percentage. He started the weekend with a bang, launching a three-run home run that set the stage for Siena's big weekend in his first at bat. Fish went 3-for-4 in the 7-4 series-opening win with two runs scored and three RBI.
In the second game, he finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, singling in the first and second innings as the Saints jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead and held on. In the dramatic series finale, Fish went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored helping Siena come all the way back to post an 11-10 win in 10 innings. Fish's two-run homer in the third put Siena on the board for the first time, he singled and stole a base in the fifth, and singled home a run in the Saints' key six-run sixth.
Fish also had eight putouts and an assist in centerfield without committing and error, and posted a .714 on-base percentage.
Fish and the Saints are on the road Tuesday at Bryant.
