April 22, 2013
Siena senior outfielder Mike Fish is the MAAC Baseball Player of the Week. Fish has been the offensive star during Siena's current nine-game win streak, the fourth longest active streak in the nation.
Fish batted .429 (6-for-13) with two hits in each of the Saints' three wins last week. He began the week by launching a three-run, walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th as Siena knocked off Atlantic 10 foe Fordham 5-2 at home.
Fish then keyed the doubleheader sweep at Niagara Sunday, collecting four hits in the two games Sunday and scoring four runs. Fish had two doubles in the series-opening 3-1 win and was the only player from either team to manage a multi-hit game. Fish posted an .846 slugging percentage on the week and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 12 chances in centerfield.
Fish and the Saints completed a key MAAC sweep of Niagara Monday, moving into a tie for first place with Rider. The Saints host the Broncs in a three-game MAAC set this weekend, and travel to face Fairleigh Dickinson tomorrow.
