Lewicki Pitches Saints to Series Sweep
Ed Lewicki pitched seven strong innings and Larry Balkwill had two hits and three RBI to lead the Siena baseball team past Iona 8-4 Sunday in New Rochelle. In the process, the Saints swept the MAAC series from the Gaels and ran their season-long win streak to five games.

Home at last. After traveling over 11,000 miles and playing 34 games away from Siena Field, the Saints will host Iona in a MAAC doubleheader on Good Friday at noon.

Siena enters the three-game series alone in first place in the MAAC standings. Junior Matt Gage is scheduled to get the ball in the nine-inning opener, and Ed Lewicki will pitch the seven-inning second game.

The Saints have won five of their last six, and are 10-7 since starting the year 0-17.

Iona is 6-19 overall and 36 in MAAC play this season. Mariano Rivera, the son of the New York Yankee great, is expected to pitch. He's given up just three earned runs in 19.2 conference innings pitched.

The two teams complete the three-game series with a single, nine-inning game Saturday at noon.
