LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Baseball sophomore pitcher Brendan White has been named the MAAC Co-Pitcher of the Week. The Mahopac, New York native shares the conference’s weekly honor with Canisius ace J.P. Stevenson.
White, who was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Mar. 28 of last season as a freshman, earns MAAC Co-Pitcher of the Week recognition for the first time in his young career. He becomes the first Siena player to earn MAAC Pitcher of the Week acclaim since Matt Gage on May 13, 2013.
White tossed seven shutout innings in a masterful performance at 23rd ranked Central Florida Saturday in Orlando. He silenced the Knights’ potent bats in surrendering just three hits and only five baserunners, while striking out four without issuing a walk. White retired 12 of the final 14 batters he faced while receiving a no-decision in the 1-0 walk-off loss at the hands of national power UCF, which won its 10th straight which included a two-game mid-week sweep earlier in the week of defending National Champion and unanimous No. 1 Florida.
White and the Saints return to action Saturday when they continue their season opening 22-game road trip with the start of a three-game series at Wofford in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
