The Siena baseball team has been chosen third of 11 in the annual preseason coaches' poll , released Wednesday morning by the MAAC office. Junior centerfielder Dan Swain and sophomore designated hitter Joe Drpich were honored on the 13-man Preseason All-MAAC team.

The Saints are coming off three straight trips to the MAAC Championship Series. Siena faced Canisius all three years, winning the Championship in 2014.

Siena garnered one first place vote in the poll, and was well clear of fourth place Monmouth. Defending champion Canisius was picked first, followed closely by Quinnipiac. After Monmouth came Marist, Manhattan, Rider, Fairfield, Iona, Niagara and Saint Peter's.

Swain (2014) and Drpich (2015) were each named MAAC Rookie of the Year, and figure to solidify the middle of Siena's lineup. Swain has 112 hits in his first two seasons with the program, and Drpich hit .301 with a MAAC-best nine home runs as a rookie last year.

The Saints' pitching staff is anchored by senior captain Bryan Goossens, and features talented southpaws Chris Amorosi and Kyano Cummings. Sophomore right-hander Ryan Bellomo is also a player to watch.

The Saints open the 2016 season Friday, February 19 at Central Florida. The MAAC/home season opens with a Good Friday doubleheader against Niagara March 25.
