BUFFALO, N.Y.- Matt Mueller (Santa Clara, CA/DeAnza College) went 3-for-5 with two homers and four RBI, while Josh Courage (Bethesda, MD/Washington Waldorf) pitched out of a jam in the ninth inning as Siena College (25-23, 15-5 MAAC) held on for an 11-10 victory over the Canisius College(4-32, 3-18 MAAC) in a MAAC contest at the Demske Sports Complex Sunday afternoon.
Blake Hanan (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Saints with three stolen bases, and Jim Buckley (Kansas City, MO/Park Hill) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Ken Grant (Brookhaven, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) pitched seven innings, gave up 13 hits and seven runs and struck out five in picking up his team-high fifth win. Courage earned his fourth save of the year.
Canisius senior leftfielder Jesse Burdick, playing in his final home contest, stroked two home runs and two doubles, tallied five RBI and scored four runs. His two round-trippers leave him three shy of the school single-season record.
Siena returns to action Tuesday at the University of Massachusetts.
