The Siena baseball team enters its first place showdown with Rider this weekend red-hot. The Saints bounced back from their only loss in the last two weeks with an impressive 9-4 victory at Holy Cross Wednesday.
Sophomore Rick Morales pitched into the sixth inning, allowing just one run to earn the win for the Saints.
John Rooney had his third multi-hit game in the last four games, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Mike Fish, Tyler Martis and Vincent Citro each had multi-hit games as well, helping the Saints to a 9-1 lead before the Crusaders struck for three runs in the eighth.
Citro walked and stole home for the game's first run in the Saints' first at bat, and Rooney drove in the second shortly after. Siena took command with a three-run third, a rally highlighted by Martis' two-run double.
Mike Allen launched the third home run of his career in the seventh, and Fish and Rooney drove home the Saints last two runs in the eighth.
Siena and Rider play a doubleheader Saturday at noon and a single game Sunday at noon in Loudonville.
