Senior Dave Pahucki tossed a complete game one hitter in the opener, and classmate Jim Buckley had five hits and seven RBI in the nightcap as the Siena baseball team (18-21) cruised to a doubleheader sweep at C.W. Post Tuesday afternoon. Siena won the first game 8-0 and the second 21-9.
Pahucki struck out seven Post batters and allowed just one walk in earning his school record 20th win. The Saints scored single runs in the first, third, sixth and seventh and exploded for four runs in the fourth to provide all the support the right handed fireballer would need.
Fausto Franco was one of seven Saints with hit and scored a team-high three runs. Franco also stole his 10th base of the season in just 10 attempts.
The Saints blew open the nightcap with nine runs in the second inning. Jim Buckley had two of his five hits in the inning including his first of two home runs in the game. Senior slugger Ryan Finn added his 46th career home run later in the game to help the Saints extend their win streak to six games.
Siena had 21 hits in the second game and 29 on the afternoon to go along with their 30 runs scored.
The Saints have now won 14 of their last 16 games and will return to action with a doubleheader against New York tech at Bleecker Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
