VESTAL, N.Y. - Two Binghamton pitchers scattered three hits over nine innings and the Bearcats (6-20-1) plated six runs in the fourth inning to beat visiting Siena (7-25) 6-3 Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Johnmin Hickey allowed two hits and three runs in five innings to earn his first win of the season. Hickey (1-2) struck out four before giving way to classmate Chris Darling, who gave up only a ninth-inning single in four innings. Darling struck out four to post his first collegiate save.

The Saints took advantage of three walks and a hit batter to plate two runs in the first inning. Siena added another run in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch before Binghamton came roaring back in the bottom of the frame. Junior second baseman Matt Caputo stroked a two-run double, and junior left fielder Joe Costello added a two-run single later in the inning, as BU put up six runs on six hits. The Bearcats were also aided by two Siena errors.

The teams combined for just three hits the rest of the way as temperatures quickly dropped and the pitching took over.

Caputo wound up 2-for-4 with two RBI. Costello, who is batting a team-high .384, drove in his 25th and 26th runs of the season. Junior third baseman Jay Balback went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Siena freshman Scott King drove in two runs and was solid in relief on the mound, allowing just one hit with six strikeouts in three innings.
