HAMDEN, CONN. -- Senior captain Josh Kean (Schenectady, N.Y./South Colonie) had three hits and three runs scored as the Siena College baseball team (8-20) rallied to defeat Quinnipiac 11 -8 in non-conference play Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Blake Hanan (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenedehowa) continued his hot hitting with three hits, including a pair of doubles and an RBI.

The Braves jumped on Siena starter Brent Wengert for five early runs in the first three innings. The big hit came in the third inning on a bases-clearing triple to right center field by Andy Zidas.

The two teams then matched runs in the fourth and fifth innings scoring one and two runs respectively before the Saints finally broke through in the seventh. The Saints rallied for seven runs in the games final three innings and benefited from solid relief pitching from junior Date Szachewicz-who picked up the win and sophomore Josh Courage who collected the save.

Ryan Finn's scorched ground ball ricocheted off the Quinnipiac third baseman to score the tying and go ahead runs in the eighth. Jim Buckley's RBI single had brought the Saints to within a single run the inning prior. Buckley finished with two hits and three RBI. Right fielder Luis Khoury added two hits for the victors including a homerun in the fourth inning.

Siena has now won four of its last six games. The Saints will return to action at Siena Field for a 3:30 p.m. game with Atlantic 10 member Fordham Wednesday afternoon.
