Siena pounded out 15 hits in an 11-8 win at NJIT Wednesday. Mike Fish and Mike Allen each homered, and the pair combined to drive in eight of the Saints' 11 runs.
Larry Balkwill doubled home the game's first run in the top of the first, and his double in the third put Siena (4-13) up 3-0.
NJIT (5-10) scored seven unanswered runs, five coming on just two hits in the third as the Highlanders took advantage of two hit batters and a pair of walks. The Saints scored the next eight runs to take the lead for good.
Mike Fish started the rally with a solo home run in the fifth, and Allen hit a two-run blast in the sixth to pull the Saints within a run.
Allen then delivered the big blow in the game an inning later, lining a bases-clearing double down the left field line to break a 7-7 tie. Fish tacked on the 11th run with an RBI single in the eighth.
Vincent Citro and Andres Ortiz joined Allen, Balkwill and Fish with multi-hit games for the Saints.
Ed Charlton had three hits, three runs scored and two RBI for NJIT.
Siena used nine different pitchers on the afternoon. Bryan Goossens, Kyano Cummings, Jim Meindl, Carlos Cabrera, Tom O'Brien and Matt Quintana each had scoreless outings. Cabrera was credited with his first collegiate victory.
The Saints are scheduled to open MAAC play at Fairfield this weekend. First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is set for noon.
