Memphis pounded out 30 hits and outscored Siena 22-4 in a doubleheader sweep Saturday at FedEx Field. The Tigers took the opener 16-4, and won the rubber match of the three-game set 6-0.
In the first game, Memphis roughed up Siena starter Justin Brantley for 10 runs and 10 hits in the first four innings. The Tigers scored in their first six at bats, posting multiple runs four times on their way to an easy win.
Zach Willis, Adam McClain and Jacob Wilson each had three hits and two RBI for Memphis in game one.
In the second game, Adam McClain went 4-for-4 with a home run to lead the charge for the Tigers. Memphis scored in its first at bat, and the lead held up thanks to Chase Joiner who pitched a gem on the mound.
Joiner worked all nine innings, striking out 12 with no runs allowed. He walked just one, and scattered seven hits.
Rooney and Trymbiski had two of those hits for the Saints. Siena falls to 2-17 on the season after its surprising 6-3 win in the series opener Friday night.
Siena's will next be in action in Buffalo when it opens MAAC play with a three-game series at Canisius next Saturday and Sunday.
