Trey Lambert tossed seven shutout innings and the Liberty bullpen and the Flames shutout Siena for the second straight game 9-0 in Lynchburg Sunday. Siena starter Bryan Goossens worked five solid innings, allowing just two runs.
The top four men in the Liberty order each had two hits. Bryan Aanderud and Dalton Britt each had a pair of hits and two RBI.
Liberty led just 2-0 in the sixth, but the Flames erupted for seven runs in their next three at bats to put the game away.
The two runs Goossens allowed were the first two he gave up all season. Reliable reliever Ed Lewicki pitched one scoreless inning as well. Mike Fish had two of Siena’s five hits as the Saints’ bats went silent after scoring 10 runs in a win over Army in the first game of this weekend’s Tournament.
Siena returns to action in Charleston, S.C. next weekend with a three-game set against Charleston Southern.
