South Alabama completed a three-game sweep over the Siena Saints with a 10-1 win Thursday at Stanky Field. With the win, South Alabama improves to 7-4, while Siena falls to 0-6.
Moises Rivera and Nick Messinger continued their torrid hitting in a losing effort for the Saints. Riviera - who was moved to the three hole in the lineup - collected two hits, wile Messinger went 3-for-3 at the plate with his fourth home run of the season.
For the third consecutive game, the Jaguars racked up double digits in both runs and hits. Eric Shortell led the way offensively for South Alabama, going 2-for-2 with two home runs and three RBIs. Bunky Kateon continued his red-hot hitting by going 3-for-3 on the day.
On the mound for the Jags, freshman Lance Baxter made his first career start. Baxter went five innings and allowed just one run, while fanning six to record his first win as a Jag. Corey Muscara took the loss for Siena, going 2.2 innings and allowing five runs (three earned).
Siena next travels to Florida State for a three-game weekend series with the Seminoles.
