NEW ORLEANS - Jay Yaconetti had four hits and drove in seven runs to lead the University of New Orleans to a 23-3 baseball victory over Siena here Sunday afternoon at Maestri Field.
The Privateers (5-6) collected season-high totals for runs, hits (22) and home runs (5) off of six Saint pitchers. Joining Yaconetti with multiple hits was Mike Forbes, Chris Adams, Richard Quihuis-Bell and Justin Guy all with three safeties while Tony Gonzalez added a pair.
UNO also hit a season-high five home runs as Yaconetti tallied his fourth, Forbes his second, and Adams, Quihuis-Bell and Guy all contributed with their first round-trippers of the year.
Following Yaconetti in the RBI column for the Privateers was Forbes with four RBI, Guy with three and Adams and Quihuis-Bell tallied two each. Gonzalez also drove home a run.
The Privateers scored in seven of the eight innings that they came to the plate including a six-run fifth and a trio of four-run innings in the second, fourth and eighth.
Junior lefthander Matt Crockett (1-1) scattered three hits and two walks with an unearned run and six strikeouts over six innings to earn the victory. Siena starter Trevor Reid (0-1) allowed eight runs on eight hits and three walks with four strikeouts to suffer the loss.
Siena (3-2) tallied eight hits and left 11 on base in the contest.
The two teams conclude the three-game series Monday with a 6:30 p.m. start.
