UConn Blows Out Siena in Rubber Game

UConn scored 14 unanswered runs after Siena registered its only tally of the game in its first at bat in a 14-1 victory in the rubber game of the three-game weekend set. Tyler Martis had two hits in the loss for Siena.

Freshman Dan Lowndes doubled and came around to score on Justin Esquerra's RBi single to center in the first. The Siena lead didn't last long.

UConn scored seven times in the second on six hits, and followed that up with three runs in the third to put the game away early.

Joe Deroche-Duffin was 3-for-5 with five RBI, and Vinny Siena had two hits and also drove in five for the Huskies.

Jordan Tabakman pitched six strong innings allowing just one run on five hits to pick up the win. Three UConn relievers combined to allow just one hit over the final third of the game.

Siena used six different pitchers: Chris Kearney, Joe Rosenstein and Justin Scala each had scoreless outings.

The Saints have Tuesday off and play at Florida Gulf Coast Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
