Defending National Champion and top-ranked Florida completed the season opening sweep of Siena Baseball with a 19-2 victory in the series finale at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville, Florida. Seniors Jordan Bishop and Joe Drpich each recorded RBI for the Saints.
Florida (3-0) scored three or more runs in four separate innings highlighted by a nine-run sixth. The Gators rattled off 18 hits and put 26 runners on base.
Siena (0-3) scored single runs in both the fifth and seventh innings to account for its scoring. Bishop produced a run-scoring single to bring home freshman centerfielder Brendan Conley in the fifth, and Drpich delivered junior transfer Marcos Campos on an RBI groundout in the seventh. Drpich and Campos paced the Saints with a pair of hits apiece.
Keenan Bell and Blake Reese led a balanced Florida attack with four RBI each. A total of 13 different Gators recorded hits and scored runs. Tyler Dyson tossed six innings of one-run ball to earn the victory on the mound.
Siena returns to action Thursday at 5 p.m. when the Saints head to Boiling Springs, North Carolina to open a four-game series at Gardner-Webb.
