GENERAL: One of Rossi’s first choices out of the bullpen, Sanborn has a good fastball and a major league slider. Very versatile, he has seen time as a spot starter and out of the pen. Good movement and location make his heavy ball difficult to track. STRENGTHS: Movement, Location IN THE SUMMER OF 2001: Played for the Geneva Redlegs of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. In Geneva he was 3-0 with 0.30 ERA over 29.2 innings. AS A FRESHMAN: Posted a perfect 4-0 overall record and was part of two shutouts. Recorded a 3.38 MAAC ERA and is 1-0 in conference decisions. Has struck out 20 batters in 34 innings. Appeared in 13 games, starting four. IN HIGH SCHOOL: Helped lead Mendham to a state sectional championship. Earned Second Team All-State and First Team All-Conference honors. Also excelled in track. ROSSI ON SANBORN: “Mark is coming off an excellent summer and a great freshman season.
