Baseball vs Marist

3/28/2013

GENERAL: Walk-on...A lanky righthander who can throw three pitches for strikes...Mid-80s fast ball with solid command.

AS A FRESHMAN: Made nine appearances, posting 1-0 record and a 6.19 ERA...Struck out nine batters and walked eight in 16 innings of work...Finished the year with three straight scoreless outings (vs. Holy Cross, at Rider and vs. Fairfield)...Pitched very well at Liberty (2/25), tossing 3.1 innings and allowing just one earned run en route to his first collegiate victory.

BEFORE SIENA: A two-sport athlete at Simsbury, playing both baseball and soccer for four years...Went 7-2 for his American Legion team in 2011, posting a 2.05 ERA...Made the honor roll every quarter of his high school career.

ROSSI ON QUINTANA: "Matt got out of the gate strong last year, but as the year wore on he seemed to struggle with the pace of the game. He will need to continue to add strength and command the zone to help the team out of the bullpen this year. He can be a major factor with added experience."
