Siena at Central Florida

Siena traveled to Orlando to face Central Florida

GENERAL:A local product from nearby Greenwich...Emerged as one of the MAAC's top relievers as an underclassmen, assuming the team's closer role last season...Tough mindset, and lively arm...Pin-point command.

AS A SOPHOMORE:MAAC All-Academic Team selection...Led team with 22 appearances and seven saves...Second on the team with a 2.53 ERA and .258 opposing batting average...Had a 1.53 ERA in 13 MAAC appearances, striking out 15 batters in 17.2 innings of work...Tossed three innings of scoreless relief to pick up his first collegiate victory at Memphis (3/16)...Got the victory at Marist (4/14) with 3.2 innings of scoreless relief in the front end of Saturday doubleheader, and the save with a scoreless inning out of the pen in the second game. Was scored on just once in last nine appearances, including seven hitless outings.

AS A FRESHMAN:Made 19 appearances out of the bullpen...Was 0-2, but led the staff with a 1.47 ERA and struck out 28 hitters in 36 2/3 innings pitched while walking just nine...Earned two crucial saves against Marist (5/19) and Rider (5/26)...Allowed just one run in his last 12 appearances, and threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings at the MAAC Tournament.

BEFORE SIENA:A four-year member of the Greenwich baseball team...A First Team All-State selection as a senior, and the Wasaren League MVP...Honored by the Post Star as its Player of the Year, and was a First Team selection by the Troy Record and Saratogian newspapers.

ROSSI ON FRYER: "Neil was again one of the top pitchers out of the bullpen last year. The coaching staff feels he should again be one of the top pitchers out of the pen in the MAAC coming off an outstanding summer. We will count on him heavily to be a major force."
