AS A SOPHOMORE: Started 46 games and played in 48...Batted .250 with 44 hits in 176 at bats...Scored 26 runs and drove in 18...Compiled a 16-game hitting streak, the second longest for any Saint on the season (4/6-4/28)...Batted .354 in April...Went 3-for-5 with two RBI in win over Fairfield (4/15).
AS A FRESHMAN: Appeared in 24 games before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury...In his limited action he recorded a .244 batting average, collected 13 walks and scored 10 runs...Found a knack in reaching base as well, compiling a .352 on-base percentage...As the Saints starting first baseman he recorded a .983 fielding percentage...Highlight performance came in the Centenary series where he posted a .384 batting average, with two doubles.
IN HIGH SCHOOL: Selected Team MVP as a junior and Offensive Player of the Year his senior season at St. Ignatius in Ohio...First-Team All-Conference, First Team Tri-County and Team MVP, Lazio batted .381 with 11 RBI and five stolen bases as a junior before sustaining an injury...In the summer of 2001, he batted .446 with 33 RBI and 23 stolen bases hitting safely in 59 of his 132 at bats.
