GENERAL: Talented offensive player with exceptional bat control and vision... Smooth swing and ability to hit to all fields are top attributes at the plate...Can hit for average and power, and is one of team's top run producers...Very consistent talent who feasts off right-handed pitching...Injury caused him to miss almost entire freshman season, but has proven to be a consistent offensive force the last two seasons.

AS A JUNIOR: Started in 22 games, while playing in 36...Compiled a team-high .326 batting average, recording 29 hits in 89 at bats...Also led team in slugging percentage (.506) and on-base percentage (.394)...Proved to be a clutch player when called upon as a pinch hitter, as he tallied eight hits in ten at bats.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Started 46 games and played in 48...Batted .250 with 44 hits in 176 at bats...Scored 26 runs and drove in 18...Compiled a 16-game hitting streak, the second longest for any Saint on the season (4/6-4/28)...Batted .354 in April...Went 3-for-5 with two RBI in win over Fairfield (4/15).

AS A FRESHMAN: Appeared in 24 games before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury...In his limited action he recorded a .244 batting average, collected 13 walks and scored 10 runs...Found a knack in reaching base as well, compiling a .352 on-base percentage...As the Saints starting first baseman he recorded a .983 fielding percentage...Highlight performance came in the Centenary series where he posted a .384 batting average, with two doubles.

IN HIGH SCHOOL: Selected Team MVP as a junior and Offensive Player of the Year his senior season at St. Ignatius in Ohio...First-Team All-Conference, First Team Tri-County and Team MVP, Lazio batted .381 with 11 RBI and five stolen bases as a junior before sustaining an injury...In the summer of 2001, he batted .446 with 33 RBI and 23 stolen bases hitting safely in 59 of his 132 at bats.

ROSSI ON LAZIO: "Bill is one of our top offensive options, and we will look for even more production out of him this season. He is very consistent offensively, and his bat will be difficult to keep out of the lineup this spring."

STRENGTHS...Bat Speed, Instincts, Quickness
