GENERAL: A talented local product who is slated to pitch for the Chatham A's in the Cape Cod League this summer...Left-handed strikeout pitcher with great size...Works hard at his game, and his improved tremendously since arriving at Siena...Has only scratched the surface of his potential...Could develop into one of the MAAC's top pitchers, perhaps as soon as this year.

AS A FRESHMAN: Appeared in 15 games, making seven starts...Posted a 1-3 record with a 3.95 ERA in 41 innings of work...Struck out 34 batters and held opponents to a .82 batting average...Made four MAAC starts in seven appearances, posting a 0-1 record and a 3.50 ERA...MAAC teams batted just .246 off him...Pitched four innings of scoreless relief in 2-1 win over Binghamton (4/2)...Picked up victory at Cornell (4/17) with 4.1 innings of one-hit, five-strikeout work. BEFORE

SIENA: A three-sport athlete at Broadalbin-Perth, playing baseball, basketball, and soccer...Struck out 138 batters in 85 innings pitched as a junior and senior...An All-State selection as a senior following a year where he allowed just 36 hits in 44 1/3 innings pitched.

ROSSI ON GAGE: "Matt had a very good freshman year in the 15 games that he appeared in. He showed improvement throughout the year. Coming off an outstanding summer the coaching staff is expecting big things from Matt. He has an extremely high ceiling and the coaching staff believes that this could be his year to become one of the mainstays of the staff. He has unlimited potential."
