    Siena at Central Florida

Siena traveled to Orlando to face Central Florida

GENERAL: Superb local athlete...Battled injury as a sophomore, but still posted a fine season and was a defensive leader in centerfield...Can hit for power and average, and is a fantastic baserunner with great instincts...Should once again be a main catalyst in the Siena lineup.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Made 48 appearances, all of the starting variety...Hit .273, with three home runs, 21 RBI, 22 runs scored, and seven stolen bases...Went on a ten-game hitting streak early in the season (2/19-3/12), hitting .415 (17-for-41) during that stretch...Had first career multi-homer game against Fairleigh Dickinson (3/12), belting two home runs with four RBI and three runs scored...Stole a base in five consecutive games (3/5-3/13)...Had season-high three hits in six different games, including against MAAC foes Saint Peter's (5/13) and Manhattan (5/27)...Committed just one error in 133 chances.

AS A FRESHMAN: Made an immediate impact, starting in 48 games...Hit .318, with four home runs, 33 RBI, 38 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases...Started his collegiate career with three straight multi-hit games, going 7-for-15 in three contests at Stetson (2/20-2/23)...Recorded his first two collegiate stolen bases on February 21st...Homered in both games of a doubleheader at Brown (4/7)...Named MAAC Rookie of the Week on April 27th after going 12-for-20 with eight runs, seven RBI, two doubles, a home run, and five stolen bases in five games against Cornell and Iona...Totaled season-highs with four hits and four runs scored at Cornell (4/20)...Had season-high four steals against Iona (4/23)...Finished the season on a 12-game hitting streak, and hit safely in 18 of the final 19 games of the year to raise his batting average 58 points.

BEFORE SIENA: Named All-State as a senior, First Team All-Conference three straight years and a Times Union All-Star twice...Also lettered in basketball and football at Bethlehem.

ROSSI ON FISH: "Mike had an outstanding freshman season. He will again be counted on to provide outstanding defense in centerfield, and should be more of a force this year offensively."
